About

New cherry blossom dragonWelcome to my website! JSThreads began in May 2014. Intended to be a page about my work with yarn, I decided to take the plunge and put more of my work online to share with friends and family. Not long after I started, I began teaching myself how to work with polymer clay. What started as mostly amigurumi out of yarn transitioned to sculptures. Much of what you’ll see on display on my website will be dragons. As far as my yarn art is concerned, I’ll slowly be branching to other animals.

My mom taught me how to crochet when I was little. I wanted to be good at it and make the gorgeous doll dresses my mom made, but I remember being so frustrated because I couldn’t even crochet a straight rectangle. I picked it back up in college because I wanted a creative outlet. That’s where I first started making amigurumi. While they weren’t pretty, it was definitely a start.

When we moved to a new apartment in 2019, it was the final straw in a downward spiral and creative block with polymer clay, and it wasn’t long before I turned back to fiber arts. I seem to sling shot between the 2 mediums, so while I don’t think my time with clay is permanently done, I have been enjoying my very long sculpting hiatus.

Feel free to browse through the rest of my website and check out my portfolio.
