Crochet a decrease stitch (dec)
Similarly to an increase, a decrease takes away a stitch in the round. This is done a little differently, however. There are different ways to decrease, but this technique is known as the invisible decrease; it blends into the stitching.
- With 1 loop already on your hook (from previous stitch), insert hook in the front loop only (FLO) of the next stitch.
- With 2 loops now on your hook, insert hook in the FLO of the next stitch (you’re picking up loops from 2 different stitches).
- With 3 loops now on your hook, YO and pull yarn through first 2 loops.
- YO and pull yarn through last 2 hoops. Decrease created.
