Crochet a magic ring (also known as magic loop)
- Wrap yarn around index and middle fingers. 1 ring created.

- Insert hook into ring.

- Yarn over (YO).

- Pull yarn through the ring. 1 loop should be on your hook.
- YO.

- Pull yarn through loop.
- Insert hook into ring.

- YO.

- Pull yarn through the ring. 2 loops should be on your hook.

- YO.

- Pull yarn through both loops. 1 single crochet (sc) stitch created.
- Repeat steps 7-11 until you have the number of single crochet stitches the pattern calls for.

- When ready to close the ring, pull on the tail of the ring. You should be left with a tight circle of single crochet stitches.

This same technique can be done with double or triple crochet as well, but in step 4 you will want to chain an additional 1 or 2 stitches for a double or triple crochet, respectively.
