I’ll make it a quick one today, guys! I wanted to share the dragons that are going up tomorrow, January 28, at 1 p.m. on my Etsy shop. Five new dragons are looking for homes, but I also have five others currently in the shop. These will be discounted for the weekend.
Godric the Gryffindor Dragon
If you read my blog post from earlier this week, you got a behind-the-scenes look at the making of Godric. Godric was created for the Sculptober theme of “magic wand.” I love Harry Potter and thought this would be a fun opportunity to create a dragon themed from it. He features the colors of Gryffindor, holds his own little tiny wand, and doesn’t leave his common room without his lion plush.
Godric is signed and dated, as well as numbered for the Sculptober series he’s in.
Ray the Sunshine Dragon
The next theme I tackled for Sculptober had to do with weather. Sunshine. When I was little, I loved doodling little suns with different colored and styled rays emerging from it. That inspired the base. I kept it pretty simple, but made it a little fun with the swirling center. The base contrasts well with the dragon even though it’s an orange sun instead of the classic yellow (I left that for Ray ๐ ). She features orange chalk pastel accents on her ears and horns.
Ray is signed and dated, as well as numbered for the Sculptober series she’s in.
Ocean the Water Dragon
I’ll be creating a blog post for this later, but I was recently asked to be a part of a collaboration on Poly Clay Amino. The theme for this collab is the five elements: water, air, fire, earth, and metal. This is what I created for the water element. I decided to create a merdragon to keep with the water theme. In previous merdragons I created, I used teal tones, so I kept Ocean a monochromatic color palette. The fins are a gradient and highlighted with pearl ex powders for shimmer, and the waves are highlighted with pearl ex powders as well.
Ocean is signed and dated, as well as numbered for the elemental series she’s in.
Cloud the Air Dragon
I’ll be creating a blog post for this later, but I was recently asked to be a part of a collaboration on Poly Clay Amino. The theme for this collab is the five elements: water, air, fire, earth, and metal. This is what I created for the air element. I wanted to create light, airy colors and try out a new pose as wellโI had this idea of a little dragon stretched out cuddling with clouds. Let me tell you, I’ve only sculpted clouds three times now, and while I’m getting better at making them, it’s still a struggle bus to get that fluff. He features feather wings to make this a dragon of the clouds!
I cheated and this is also doubling up as my Sculptober creation for “wind” because I was going to do something VERY similar.
Cloud is signed and dated, as well as numbered for the elemental series he’s in.
Mittens the Cold Dragon
I was lucky enough to be able to switch back to Sculptober this week before the next collab theme, so Mittens was brought to life for the theme of “cold.”
Mittens is a little dragon dressed up in winter garb. I strategically chose a cool color palette as well to help further the cold theme. I’ve only made a dragon with a hat a couple of times before, and it’s always thrown me off a little bit, but I think I got it to work here. I know, I know, having the ears stick out kind of defeats the point of wearing a hat, but I couldn’t lose those cute little ears!
Mittens is signed and dated, as well as numbered for the Sculptober series she’s a part of.
So that’s a little information about who will be up for adoption on Etsy tomorrow. I love this little batch of dragons, and I feel like it’s already been a strong start to 2017!
