February’s Etsy shop update is happening tomorrow, February 25 at 1 p.m. PST. I’ll be out of town celebrating my husband’s 25th birthday <3, but I plan on keeping everything on track. I decided that this month’s will be the last shop update for a while (I know, I know, already breaking one of my business goals for the year) because I will need to start preparing for a couple of local shows in May and June.
Some of you may also be wondering why the metal elemental dragon isn’t in this group. After careful consideration, I decided to enter it as potential promo art for the show in June. The original artwork of what is chosen becomes property of the city, so I had to pull it out of this month’s sale. I probably won’t find out until late April or early May if I’m picked, but I’ll definitely keep you guys posted!
Inferno the Fire Elemental Dragon
As I’m sure you know by now, I was recently asked to be a part of a collaboration on Poly Clay Amino. The theme for this collab is the five elements: water, air, fire, earth, and metal. This is what I created for the fire element. I created a dragon in the colors of fire with flames incorporated in the body. He sits on a base of firey charcoal also made out of polymer clay (with paint and pearl ex accents).
Inferno is signed and dated, as well as numbered for the elemental series he’s in.
Terra the Earth Elemental Dragon
As I’m sure you know by now, I was recently asked to be a part of a collaboration on Poly Clay Amino. The theme for this collab is the five elements: water, air, fire, earth, and metal. This is what I created for the earth element. I wanted to create a dragon at peace with the earth around her. She is made from an earthy color palette and features other earthy elements like moss, mushrooms, leaves, rocks, and dirt, all made from polymer clay.
Terra is signed and dated, as well as numbered for the elemental series she’s in.
Rose the Valentine’s Chocolate Dragon
I wasn’t able to create much for Valentine’s Day this year, and I wouldn’t have been able to create anything at all if it wasn’t for a collab group I recently joined on Instagram (are you sick of me talking about collabs yet? 😉 ). This past week’s theme was “love,” and I thought it’d be fun to make a little dragon in a rich color palette holding a removable box of chocolates. The box opens up to reveal an assortment of teeny loose chocolates. I’ll be using this dragon as an example for how I create color palettes using ColorMixr in a few weeks as well, so stay tuned for that!
This is also my entry for Sculptober’s theme of “Valentine’s.”
Rose is signed and dated, as well as numbered for the Sculptober series she’s a part of.
I wasn’t able to get as many ready for Etsy as I had hoped, but I was feeling a little burned out this month after finishing up the elemental collab. I’m still very happy with the way these dragons turned out. I hope to see you tomorrow on Etsy!
