Sophie and Toffee recently celebrated the anniversary for their Elves Box, and for it, they had a Wizarding World theme for the box. This was a fun box to receive as it was a fandom box, and HP is one of my favorites! There were some beautiful Harry Potter items like house glitters and open bezels, and some more magical items like exclusive wand silicone molds.
Today, I wanted to make one of the wands and a house themed open bezel.
House scarf open bezel
I have been sorted into Hufflepuff on Pottermore, so I used black and yellow for the super cute scarf charm. The glitters were a lot of fun; the colors came in different shapes and sizes, so I mixed a little bit of all of them for the yellow parts.
Since the box came with black pigment, I used that to dye the resin and then added some black micro beads for fun. From there, I just alternated between black and yellow until all of the sections were filled in.
The finished bezel turned out so cute! I think these would be really fun to make in all of the house colors.
Resin wizarding wand
This is only my second time using a 2-part mold, so I still had some kinks to work out. It’s really neat that there were 2 different wand molds in each box, so you could choose your favorite style. While the witchy wand is very pretty with the extra embellishments, I decided I wanted to make the more “traditional” looking wand.
For this, I followed the tutorial Sophie and Toffee shared on their Instagram. They brushed bronze powders in the mold and then filled it with black resin. This is because powder pigments do really well against a dark background.
Once I had the 2 halves of the wand, I used a little bit of resin to “glue” them together.
Since the box has come out, there have been some really neat tutorials for the box that utilize adding bits and pieces of resin to decorate the wand. I loved how Creative Rachy used the crystal mold for a handle. I thought it was a really fun way to add some more Hogwarts house goodness.
I’d been dying to get a crystal mold since seeing all of the beautiful things people have done with them, so I couldn’t help adding some iridescent powder to the sides of the mold before filling it to make the crystal extra magical.
I primarily used the yellow glitters, but I also added some black resin and swirled it into the crystal too, just because I wanted to see what that would look like.
And then I made one for my husband’s house too!
I was amazed by the wooden detail in these wizarding wands. The bronze powder ended up becoming more muted when it was pulled from the mold, so I think that really helped make it look like wood!
What Hogwarts house are you?
