Disney Villains Shop Swap

I recently had the pleasure of participating in my second @themarketingmuggles shop swap. You may remember the first one from last year where I received beautiful handmade items from princessandmain and created a super fun Hades-inspired dragon for Here Comes the Nerd. You can check out that swap recap on my blog.

This time, our theme was Disney villains. I got to work with Twisted Wonderland Perfumery. I’d never worked with a scent shop before, so I was excited to try something new.

When I received my package from Twisted Wonderland Perfumery, I could not wait to smell what I had been sent! I’d been reading descriptions of the shop scents online and thought they were super unique and fun combinations (btw, you can create your own combination of scents toowhattttttt!?).

Here’s a little video of me opening up the super cute package! I love the color palette and graphics used on all of the packaging, including the card, lollipop, and perfume labels!

Not only did I receive an eau de parfum titled Maleficent, but I also received a perfume oil titled Red Queen’s Garden.

Maleficent is described as a blend of black oak currant, blackberries, lilac blooms, and black pepper. It is a wonderful mix of fruity floral with a touch of spice. I’ve worn it a few times now, and it lasts all throughout my work day and into the evening. It is a little strong at first, but it evens out and wears very nicely. I have been wearing it absolutely every chance I get.

I thought it’d be fun to do a little photo shoot with my Maleficent dragon Funko Pop :).

Isn’t the color of this perfume gorgeous!?

Red Queen’s Garden is described as a sweet scent of jammy roses combined with sweet tarts candy and a hint of powder. And yes, you can smell the sweet tarts! It has amazed me how each of these scents not only come through but work together. I used the applicator to apply this to the inside of my wrists for a lovely subtle scent.

There were some pretty flowers blooming in a local park, so I took the opportunity to take some photos among them. There were even some bright red ones!

Overall, I’m quite pleased with both of these scents, and I look forward to wearing them more. I get strong summer and fall vibes from them as well, so they will be perfect to wear throughout the season! I can’t wait to see what Twisted Wonderland Perfumery continues to create!

For my part of the shop swap, I was given Ursula as the villain to work with. After consulting with my recipient, @curio_obscurio, we decided to embark on creating an Ursula-inspired fairy house. I incorporated parts of Ursula’s color palette, underwater accents, and cutesified the whole thing because that’s what I do! I tried to emulate an erroded rock for the roof, something smooth with a little texture from the current running over it constantly.

And what could have been better for this underwater scene than brightly colored bits of coral? The fairy house was completed with a sand base and real seashells.

I wish I could make fairy houses more often as they are a lot of fun to create! Maybe I’ll switch gears and make some once I finish my current round of custom dragons.
